WHAT IS VISTA?:
AmeriCorps VISTA is a national service program designed to combat poverty. Originally conceived by John F. Kennedy, VISTA was brought into existence by his successor Lyndon B. Johnson as the domestic version of the Peace Corps. Today, over 5,000 VISTAs help to combat poverty by working behind the scenes to strengthen local anti-poverty agencies in low-income areas of the United States. Through this indirect, capacity building oriented service, VISTAs help these agencies run more efficiently and effectively so that they can better serve those people that need them most.
JOB OBJECTIVE:
As a Resource Development & Communications VISTA, you will be on loan to the Boys & Girls Club of St. Joseph County and function as part of their team. You will join the VISTA anti-poverty tradition by building the Club's capacity to serve at-risk youth in the Club Community through awareness and resources raised within the public and media. In doing so, you will better equip the Boys & Girls Club of St. Joseph County to help lift at-risk children out of the circle of poverty that ensnares so many.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor's Degree (Marketing, Social Service, Design, Liberal Arts Preferred)
Experience: Some professional experience with marketing, web design, and/or non-profit organizations is preferred
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed primarily in an office environment.; willingness to accompany staff on home visits as needed.

- Develop and implement a PR Strategy
- Streamline external communications such as websites
- Develop Marketing Materials
- Increase grant sources and create grant management protocols
