Work Hours: 15-20 hours, including evenings and occasional weekends
Immediate Supervisor: Director of Program Impact and Compliance
JOB OBJECTIVETo provide direct educational needs of expectant and new parents related to conception, pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, infant feeding, and infant care.
Spanish bilingual skills highly preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSDevelops, implements, revises, and maintains current curriculum for designated classes.
SKILLS, ABILITIES AND BEHAVIORS
• Pursue professional growth through workshops, classes, reading, and in-service trainings.
• Demonstrate enthusiasm, initiative, creativity, and flexibility.
• Maintain boundaries and good working relationships with all agency staff.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare related field.
Licenses, Certifications: International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA) or Lamaze International within one (1) year
Experience: Recent experience in teaching of adults
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in client homes and throughout the community of St Joseph County, some work is required to be completed in an office setting. Assessment of children may involve bending, kneeling, and play activities on the floor. Will need reliable transportation to provide services in the home, attend meetings at locations other than Family & Children’s Center’s corporate offices.

- Creates, maintains and updates resource list as applicable for designated classes.
- Shares information about Family & Children’s Centers’ service programs with class participants as relevant.
- Neatly stores class supplies and materials in the educator storage area. All items are clearly labeled.
- Assesses educational needs with ongoing evaluations and adjusts accordingly.
- Maintains and submits attendance documentation and class evaluation tools.
- Other duties as needed and directed by supervisor.
- Reads professional journals, attends seminars/classes/professional organization meetings to stay current and expand knowledge base.
- Marketing and outreach to referral sources and potential group participants. Actively engaging individuals and organizations that can potentially refer families, by building strong relationships, highlighting value, and encouragement to promote educational classes.
