Dual Supervisor - Community Partners/Healthy Families of St Joseph County

Work Hours: 40 hours, including evenings and occasional weekends, on-call for crisis intervention

JOB OBJECTIVE
To provide supervision to direct service staff and maintain quality programming as set by the Community Partners for Safe Families, SCAN Credentialing standards and Healthy Families America Credentialing standards. Provide crisis intervention and assessment in keeping with Family and Children’s Center, Inc.’s mission to empower individuals and families by promoting human growth, dignity and preventing abuse through advocacy, education, and support services. To establish a relationship with assigned parents in which the parents’ dependency needs are met and parenting skills are improved. Supervisor will be responsible for optimizing the home environment for the physical and mental well-being of children who are at risk of being abused or neglected and their families. Supervisor will be responsible for monthly and quarterly reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Masters Degree in Social Work or a related human services field and 2 years of relevant experience or Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or a related human services field and 5 years of relevant experience.
Experience:
●Minimum 2 years working with families in a supervised setting.
●Experience working with or providing services to children and family member participants.
●Experience with family/participant services that embrace the concepts of family-centered and strength-based service.
●Experience in providing case management services to culturally diverse communities/families/participants.
● Successful parenting and/or child care experience.
● Knowledge of maternal-infant mental health and concepts of child abuse and neglect.
● Knowledge of infant and child development and parent-child attachment.
Abilities:
●Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing and present effectively to large and small groups.
●Ability to build rapport quickly and easily.
●Ability to establish trusting relationships.
●Ability and willingness to work with the culturally diverse target population.
● Bilingual abilities preferred.
● Ability to become familiar with community resources appropriate to needs of clients.
● Ability to plan and implement short- and long-range goals.
● Ability to design, develop, implement and evaluate training plans, curricula, and methodology.
Skills:
● Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities with independent decion making.
● Ability to train others.
● Analytical and critical thinking skills.
●Basic computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, with emphasis on Excel and database management.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in and out of an office environment. Services may involve bending, kneeling, and play activities on the floor. Will need transportation to provide services in the home, attend meetings, conduct groups and meeting at locations other than Family & Children’s Center’s corporate offices and transport clients.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide ongoing supervision to the direct service staff as required by Community Parnters for Safe Families, SCAN and Healthy Families America.
- Assist with interview processes for new staff.
- Establish a trusting relationship with at-risk families by initiating and maintaining regular client contact.
- Provide case management functions and perform collateral tasks as needed.
- Maintain complete and up-to-date records and documentation of staff, community resources and clients.
- Attend specific community committee meetings with partner agencies.
- Attend and participate in regular staff meetings, ongoing training/in-services and supervision..
- Assist parents in making and attending appointments for doctors, social service agencies, etc. Act as a liaison between families and community agencies.
- Provide intervention, assessment, treatment planning, brief and long-term supportive services, referral/linkage for clients referred/accepted into Community Partners for Safe Families and Healthy Families of St Joseph County.
ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES
- Establish a case plan with goals, objectives and activities.
- Report immediately to the DCS any suspicion of abuse or neglect.
- Record client observations and activities in a consistent manner and under deadline.
- Attend staff meetings, individual and group supervision, community meetings, etc. as required.
- Evaluate performance of direct service staff.
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

- Must be 21 years of age.
- Must have valid driver’s license, vehicle, acceptable insurance and satisfactory motor vehicle record.
- Must satisfactorily complete initial training sessions.
- Previous home visitation experience.
- Pursue professional growth through workshops, classes, reading, and in-service trainings.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm, initiative, creativity, and flexibility.
- Demonstrate knowledge of parent-child interaction, child development, and the dynamics of child abuse and neglect.
- Demonstrate effective time management with regard to assigned caseload and related work responsibilities.
- Maintain boundaries and good working relationships with staff.

- Maintain high degree of sensitivity and responsiveness to client and staff needs.
