The Brain Train Program Coordinator
Full Time; Exempt
Compensation: $36,000 Annually
Work Hours: 40-45 hours/week; flexible during the day
Location: 300 S St Louis Blvd, Suite 100, South Bend, IN 46617
Immediate Supervisor: Director of Program Impact and Compliance
Education Requirement: Bachelor's Degree
JOB OBJECTIVE
To oversee the management of the Brain Train, a program of Family & Children’s Center and The Brain Train Tech Crossing Program. Position establishes and maintains close working relationships with other county agencies, service providers, preschools, as well as other community organizations who are partners or potential partners of The Brain Train.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1) Provide assessment, goal planning, supportive services, referral/linkage for families eligible for The Brain Train development programs.
2) Assist with planning and conducting play sessions with families participating in The Brain Train, mentor and educate on appropriate developmental activities and information.
3) Asist with planning and facilitating parent group activities.
4) Provide case management functions and perform collateral tasks as needed and allow for the growth of the program.
5) Maintain complete and up-to-date referrals, screening tools, outcomes, and other required documentation for The Brain Train programs.
6) Attend specific community committee meetings of partnering agencies and conduct and oversee Brain Train Advisory Committee meetings.
7) Market The Brain Train programs to the community at-large, and build relationships with funders and prospects.
8) Stay up-to-date on programs, agencies, and businesses available to The Brain Train families.
9) Evaluate client/family needs and refer to appropriate early childhood programs such as Healthy Families and external community partners.
10) Stay knowledgeable of and up-to-date with community resources.
11) Maintain a working atmosphere where services can be delivered in a creative, responsible, and effective manner.
12) Perform other related duties as necessary to accomplish the goals of the agency and/or as directed by the Executive Director.

1) Arrange physical environment for individual and group sessions: move chairs, tables, prepare coffee, materials.
2) Reach out to families to secure appointments via telephone, email, and letters.
3) Provide consultation to other Family & Children's Center, staff relative to infant growth and learning, play therapy, and early childhood development.
4) Attend staff meetings, individual and group supervision, and community meetings as required.
5) Attend all required trainings and staff development sessions pertinent to The Brain Train programs and the position.
6) Liaison between Board of Directors and FCC Executives in developing strategies and plans for furthering the goals of Brain Train in the community.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
1) Crisis intervention, assessment and evaluation, and treatment planning skills.
2) Group facilitation skills.
3) Basic computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and basis database management systems.
4) Demonstrated enthusiasm, initiative, creativity, and flexibility.
5) Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse racial/cultural backgrounds.
6) Ability to maintain positive working relationships with staff.
7) Ability to abide by strict code of confidentiality according to legal and professional standards.
8) Ability to maintain a high degree of sensitivity and responsiveness to client needs.
9) Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Bilingual abilities are a plus.
10) Willingness to carry out program goals, agency policies, and advance the overall mission.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Minimum Bachelor of Arts/Science in Human Services, Child Development, Education, or related field, Master’s Degree is preferred.
Experience: Minimum 2 years progressively responsible and relevant professional experience demonstrating the knowledge of infant and child development, skill and ability required to perform the work described.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS: Must be physically and mentally able to perform essential functions, possess sufficient physical strength and energies required to effectively engage in activities with children and to support the physical environment. Assessment of children may involve bending, kneeling, and play activities on the floor. Reliable transportation is required.
